The Preacher’s Son

I met a Preacher’s son,
And he told me
The work of God was not yet done.
And I said
‘Don’t you think he has done enough?’
And he didn’t know what I meant,
But sensed my doubt.
‘I see,’ I said, ‘let’s have it out.’
What of countless wars?
What of illness in young?
What of Murphy’s Law?
What has your God ever done?’
And he didn’t say
‘God works in mysterious ways.’
Like expected.
He said ‘ Never mind God,
What have you ever done?’
