Contract

The sun stayed
and held on
to the day.
It refused
to descend.
The sky was,
he argued, his.
The stars
and the moon
disagreed.
It was theirs.
They had signed
the contract
many aeons hence.
So dusk stepped
in, and for
evermore,
there was neither
one thing or the other,
just indecision.
