When I was young.

When I was young,
only a day ago,
some would have said,
I knew nothing.
But I knew the wind
and I knew the breeze.
I knew the rain
and I knew the sun.
I knew my family
and I knew my friends.
Now I’ve grown up
I find my voice
gets lost in the breeze.
And shout though I might
In the wind nothing is heard.
The rain beats down
and I can’t see anything.
And the sun shines
without shining.
My family are
no longer
what they were.
My friends are
no longer
who they were.
When I was young,
only a day ago
some would have said
I knew nothing.
Now I’ve grown up
I know
I know nothing.

  1. I love this Jon. I would love your voice to be more widely heard. Knowing we know nothing is the first step towards knowledge. Thinking we know everything is to bolt the door on ignorance.
