On reading ‘Poetry of departures’ by Philip Larkin

Poetry of departures by Philip Larkin

It is not often
I hear the comment.
For after all,
It’s just brick walls
But within home I find
Comfort.
Not only that
But reassurance
That all is not bleak,
So to speak.

When I hear it said:
He walked out on the whole crowd,
I find no comfort there.
Instead
I wonder from what he ran,
And where he was to run.
I am certain
It was not
From brick walls.
