The Secrets of Frogs

It might be said
He was the wisest cat
Because apart from knowing
The secrets of frogs;
The laughter of birds;
The sorrow of a mongoose;
And tales of a running deer,
He could understand the
Promises and statements
Of the human folk.
From myths, legends and tales
From common speak and lordly masks
He knew things were amiss;
That Future was to be tasked,
And that all was to be risked.
So he sought audience
With the Queen.
With Gaia herself,
So rarely seen.
And she knew his message already,
The wisdom of his words,
She knew that change was coming,
She had already heard.
Her plan was just now moving
To protect the honest minds,
But there was to be no salvation
For the beastly, civilised kind.
