The Rain

In all our lives
A little rain must fall.
Except it often
Would appear to be
A torrent,
A deluge which
Reaps indiscriminate blows.
But such inclement weather
Harbours the inclination
To react;
To cast off shackles
And proclaim
‘I have choice.’
And in that moment
To feel the genuine
Reversal of fortune.

Without the rain,
Nothing would grow.
