A moment’s glimpse
Of the ring I wear
Brings awareness to the fore.
Grandma’s it might have been,
But a continent bled this more.
A moment’s use of water hot
To cleanse and soak my body,
Half a planet dried and cracked,
And for me baths are a hobby.
A moment’s warmth by the fire
And radiators all ago,
A village boy shakes and bleeds,
In order to make it so.
A moment’s sip to wake the morn
To see me on my way,
A broken man harvests the plant
So I can start my day.
The moments all gather
And the balance is all amiss
For all of my pleasures
Confirm the absence of his.
