Entitlement

Opinions are rolls of the dice.
They are accidents
And we foolishly believe
they belong to us;
that they are
entitlements.
Your exclusive hold
on discernment,
moral or otherwise,
is no such thing.
It is as fickle
as a strong gust of wind
which carries a leaf
as gently as a lover’s grace
then drops her
in sudden indifference.
As is our appraisal.
An indifferent love,
sent to calm vexation;
an inevitable deception.
