Upon the City Wall

Upon the city wall
A statue
Of a lady
Peers out.
Every second person,
On their city walk,
Stops
And peers with her.
But that,
Upon which she looked,
Is long gone,
Replaced by modern brick.
No-one will know her secret,
Or upon which she peered.
So the visitors leave,
A little perplexed,
More question than answers.
