Gifts on the Tree.

Then youth became
A salesman’s trick:
An entitlement to
‘The age of things.’
And no more anguish, pain or sadness,
Nor loving, nor knowledge,
Nor solitude.
All these things are left behind.
Instead only what’s for the taking.
So do so.
Take and take again.
Eventually you will note
An absence.
And you’ll not understand
What it is.

  1. Excellent.

When everything is a “product“, with no purpose other than “profit“, then everything real is left behind and the absence is all that remains.
